After updating to Yosemite, every time I start or restart my computer, the login screen shows a question mark for a login icon and says "Update required". After typing in my password a status bar shows up and completes itself, then the computer logs in as normal. Anyone have any ideas what's up with this or how to fix it? TIA.

**issue fixed**

The issue seems to have resolved itself after going to "Users & Groups" in settings and resetting my user picture and saving. After the next restart, the question mark and "update needed" was gone.
