Hi,

I have forgotten my password! The one that is
asked to finish a software update, or sometimes
asked by the computer to 'confirm' a change.

How can I recover it ??

The reason I need it is because I also want to
update Adobe Flash in order to surf the internet
and watch videos without the computer freezing
for minutes every half hour or so.

Thank you very much, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Hi,

Thank you again : ) !!!

Yes, the provided link leads to a thread
and then to this article:
http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/24/reset-mac-os-x-10-7-lion-password/

I am on my way to print the article,
however, in order to solve the problem,
it is apparently needed to have at least
OS X 10.7, and I only have until OS X
10.6.8 ??

Thank you, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

P.S. Perhaps most of my trouble is that
I have not updated beyond OS X 10.6.8 !!!

Hi,

Yes, that will be a bit of a problem as
I don't remember many of the
passwords I use. They were saved
and I forgot them!

On the other side, with the OS X
update, other problems may be solved
like the Wifi connection that the
computer is not able to get at the
moment because my password was
not getting through. The password
I thought I had always used!

Kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Hi,

I entered recovery mode. One has
for options and a menu. The four
options are:

Restore your Mac from a Time Machine backup.
Verify and repair connected drives using Disk Utility.
Check your Internet connection or get help online using Safari.
Install or reinstall OS X.

I used neither of them but from the
menu I went to 'Utilities', and then
to 'Firmware Password Utility' and
then I stopped. I didn't want to go
any further, I was afraid I would
the whole thing up.

If you guys have any lead that could
help me, I would be very grateful, as
I can not update Adobe Flash, and I
can not use the Wifi connection, as it
marks that there is no hardware
installed. I am almost 100% sure
that I never changed before my OS X
password. It suddenly was as if
Apple was not accepting it anymore.

Thank you again, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

It definitely isn't a firmware password.

To upgrade to Yosemite you must have had the password. It won't let you modify system files without it.
