Hey everyone, I've been using my absolutely wonderful 20 inch cinema display with my Mac Pro for years without any hiccups whatsoever... Until today.

The display suddenly dimmed to about half of it's original brightness, and the power LED began to blink - short, short, long.

Straight away I went to Apple's website to see what the LEDs meant and it said that it's "detecting a backlight error. Check the cables & restart the computer."

So I did as they asked, checked the cables, A-OK, restarted the computer and booted up. The display stayed at 100% brightness for around 20 seconds before the display dimmed and the LEDs started blinking again. I've tried swapping out the GPUs, plugging the display in to a different Mac and even using a different PSU, all to no avail.

One thing to note though is that every time the display is turned off and then back on again, it consistently starts off at 100% brightness for anywhere between 15 and 20 seconds, before dimming to approx. 50%.

I find it weird that it works for a while, before dimming again.

Any ideas? I really can't afford to shell out £££'s for a new display, so any advice would we greatly appreciated.
