Have started to have trouble with my Apple TV and the HDMI connection. It worked okay to start with then instead of normal picture got weird green line/red stripes. Other equipment (set top box recorder) still works fine using same socket. Took Apple TV to store, they tested it using my HDMI cable and it worked normally. Refreshed AT on computer - no difference. TV is a Hitachi 37" screen. Any ideas please?

Did you use the same HDMI cable for the ATV and the other device? It maybe the cable is faulty.
thanks for idea. Am thinking of getting a HDMI to RCA composite lead and trying that on the TV. Any thoughts? Do they work? At $2(A) from Hong Kong its worth a try!
Technically this should not work. The entire purpose of HDMI was not to make a cool convienent cable, but instead to implement HDCP. HDCP, if implemented, makes the device and display negotiate a handshake so that YOU can't pirate the video content.
So using a converter that turns an HDMI into an analog RCA signal, shouldn't work if the device implements HDCP.
On a similar topic, the Bluray standard says that a Bluray player may not output a 1080p signal over anything analog (even component cables which can support 1080p).

Thanks for all advice. Have Apple TV connected DIRECTLY to the HDMI socket in the TV and still getting screen with pink and green pattern. Tried separate HDMI leads - same result. Next stop the Apple shop!
