Hello,

I was trying to get DVD sharing to work but it simply won't show up.

Firstly I enabled it in System Preferences>Sharing. It said blocked by firewall despite being on the accept list and always allow signed apps box ticked.
So I disabled the firewall and it successfully turns on (green light) in system preferences.

However it still won't show the drive in finder. I am using an ethernet cable directly between imac and macbook, both running snow leopard 10.6.8
I can get screen sharing to work but not optical drive sharing.
I have read the help page but that did not provide any solutions.

On a side note I notice it says that copy protected discs can't be shared which seems ridiculous! Is this really true? In the near future I plan on using the DVD sharing to watch a movie on imac which does not have disc drive, hence using my macbook for the disc drive.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
