Anyway, I've just noticed there is a strange 'mountain-like shape/outline' on my tele. I've noticed this while watching it that the picture on the tele is fine, but there is a distinct outline at the bottom of the screen which looks like a mountain type shape.

It's filled in so it's not just a random line across, it looks really weird.

I've searched using my trusty friend Google but unfortunately this time around it could yield any relevant websites. Any help as to what this may be and what may have caused it? Any A/V experts around that could help?

Ghost image from your aerial or image retention?

Stick a DVD on and see if you still get the same issue. If you do its a fault with your screen.
If not its a fault with your input signal. Contact sky or whoever you get your signal from. Or call in an aerial guy if your just watching freeview through a digital aerial.

What kind of phone?

What's interesting is that I've had this image on my iPhone for several years. :)

Image retention would be the most likely thing. If it's located towards the bottom left or right, it's probably a channel logo that stuck around too long, and ended up getting burned into the screen. If it's really bad, he should still be able to see it even when the TV's off.

Yep I think that's it. I can't see it when the tele is off but when it's on and the main TV channels are on then it's there. What is confusing is that when I'm using my Xbox, it's not there, but watching live TV it is.

But yeah I think this is it. I just didn't know what it was called. Thanks!

* edit *

Yeah, I'm English... 'tele' is a term for TV. :p
