Title edit : Should be FASTER, not slower. My vad, was rushing while typing.
Years ago I got my first iPad - an iPad 2 - from the Apple store and used it for email, apps, browsing, but mostly watching & streaming shows. Then I dropped it, causing not only a crack on screen but a weird glitch in the hardware that prevents me from updating beyond iOs5.
Fast forward to now: So my iPad is still stuck on iOs5. I've never minded that -in truth I actually found some unique glitches within games that other iOs players do not have so I'd never want to change it - but recently found another oddity about my iPad... It's faster than all the other, newer iPads, in the house. My question - HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?
I found it out when my glitchy iPad was not working properly, forcing me to use another in the house. It was running iOs7 and was so slow loading the exact same pages and videos that my old one loaded up in a flash! So I picked up two other iPad 2s, both more recently updated so they ran iOs8, but they too were slower.
By slow I dont just mean a fraction. With the older iPad I can watch something without pause, while the others buffer often. It's markedly faster and in some cases it's about twice as fast. If it wasn't such a big difference I wouldn't have joined this forum to find out more! (=
Also, I'm not heavily tech savvy, but I tried turning my modem and router on & off, then changed my router channel, turned the other iPads off & then fully charged them - did not make a difference. The old, iOs5 runner still leaves all 3 others in the dust.
Peculiarly, all the other iPads I tested against this one are newer, better kept, and have had less use. Mine is 3 years old, the others months old to two years old. Only one was factory refurbished, the rest were bought directly from Apple as brand new models, and they all run under the same roof, so I don't see why they would all be unusually slow. Is it something in my internet connection? I don't know. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing that may explain it.
This just seemed so abnormal I wanted to ask some technologically enlightened folks what they thought and so I came here! So guys, please, is there any sensible reason why a glitched, old iPad running iOs5 would be going at Superman speeds compared to its peers??
