I would like to know how the process of purchasing an iPhone 6 through AT&T Next on Apple's website works? If I am reading correctly, I would pay 12 installments of $37.45 (64GB version) for 12 months, then I can upgrade and that balance is wiped off and a new one starts?

My mom did AT&T Next for her iPhone 6 but did it through AT&T.com (premier) and had no problems. I just would rather not go through them as I hear Apple.com is so much better at getting iPhones out. I even read that if there is a problem with the iPhone 6, Apple.com is so much better at getting a replacement than AT&T is.

So I would like to know if there are any raw backs to purchasing an iPhone 6 64GB version via AT&T Next on Apple.com? What's it like?

It's just like you described. No drawbacks, really.

No, it's very easy. I've ordered two myself using the AT&T NEXT on Apple's website. It will show you that you're agreeing to make 20 or 24 payments, and that's it really.

Keep in mind that in order to get the balance wiped, you need to trade in the phone. You only get to keep it when it is paid in full by finishing our your installment plan or paying the entire balance off. (NEXT 12 is 18 months, and NEXT 18 is 24 months).

Right. I have no problem with that. Do you know though when that time comes if I have to go to the store for that?

I am replacing my AT&T Next phone and I can either mail the 'old' phone back or take it to an AT&T store. I should be doing that either this weekend (my 6+ is supposed to be delivered Friday) or sometime next week.

ATT Next Single Line over 2 Yrs:
$749 + $65/24 months = $2309

Verizon Single Line No Next 2 Yrs:
$299 + $60/24 months - $150 phone Port = $1589

Total Savings of Verizon: $720

AT&T Next is a rip off.

Did you know that Verizon also has EDGE, which is essentially like Next? So you are saying that Verizon Edge is also a rip off?

Your numbers are off.

Comparing the cheapest plans on both carriers...

AT&T Next Single Line for 2 Years:
$749 + $45*24 months - $150 phone port = $1679

Verizon Single Line for 2 Years:
$299 + $60*24 months - $150 phone port = $1739

Right. I have no problem with that. Do you know though when that time comes if I have to go to the store for that?

I think you can order the phone and then AT&T sends you a box to mail the phone to them.

Correct, ATT will send you a box. You must return it within 14 days. You do have the option to take it into an ATT store at any time within those 14 days though.

They are bang on. Verizon was offering 2GB for 60/month on contract. ATT was 80. I think ATT just changed the 2GB to 3GB. Verizon you get an unlocked phone too. Happy I switched!

edit: looked at Verizon's site and see they are charging 75/2GB not sure if it was a promo when I signed up.

I don't recall the exact numbers for edge. But I'm sure they were higher than being on a contract.

I saved $720 by switching off of AT&T and getting an equivalent service. In my eyes AT&T is a ripoff for single line users needing 2GB (they are not worth $1 more than Verizon let alone $720). You are paying a fee to use Next or Edge. I'd rather buy the phone outright or get it subsidized when it makes sense. In my case Verizon made sense when I switched.

Verizon also offers a $15 or $25 discount on edge in conjunction with more everything based on package. My 6 plus after 24 months costs me less than the $499 2 year standard contract. It's $14 and some change per month for my phone, but I'm also on a family plan rather than single line as well as a work discount (4 lines at $79/month 15gb + $40 per line as well as fees and insurance. Think my bill is like $73 once divied with taxes and I begin my phone payments next month). Pretty sure they offer the $15 discount on more everything up to 8gb.

The OP didn't ask for a comparison in plans. He is already with ATT. Read OP's post again.
