Here's a problem that started for me when I installed OS X 10.10.0, and it has remained with 10.10.1. When I click on a new text field, the first letter that I type frequently won't register and I'll need to go back and re-type it. I notice this most frequently in Safari, but if I activate Launchpad and began typing then it'll occasionally happen there, too.
If I pause for a second or two before typing then the problem doesn't occur, which leads me to believe that it's an issue with the new animations that were added into OS X 10.10. The system seems to be waiting for the animation to finish before it accepts keyboard input. I'm using a MacBook Pro late 2011, so it shouldn't be an issue of an underpowered system stuttering.
I'm curious to know if anyone is experiencing anything similar, or if anyone had it and fixed it. It's a pretty big issue; the fact that I haven't heard anyone else mention it makes me think that it's just something with my install. Then again, it's a fairly difficult issue to Google for; web searches tend to bring up all sorts of assorted issues.
Edited 1/27/2015: Just by way of update, since making this post I had reinstalled OS X. Simply reinstalling over my current install didn't seem to have an effect, so I wiped my disk, did a fresh install, and then recovered from my Time Machine backup. This resolved the first letter disappearing on OS X, but I still had this problem in Safari (but not Chrome or other applications). OS X 10.10.2, which includes the update to Safari 8.0.3, launched today, and seems to have resolved the issue within Safari. Hopefully it won't return...
