I currently have a macbook pro (2011) and was thinking about getting an iMac for main use and storing files. I would use my current macbook pro (2011) for going to class and portability as the iMac would stay in the dorm.
What do you think about the feasibility of this?

Alternative: I just buy a new Macbook Pro Retina (~$2300) and just use that.
