C CuteBaby macrumors member Jan 2, 2010 58 5 Dec 2, 2014 #3 If you've just moved files over to your iMac, Spotlight could still be busy indexing your drive(s). Use Activity Monitor to see if that's the case.

Click to expand... kernel_task is the process that basically runs your computer. Don't want to quit that ;-). SystemUIServer is the process you want to check about using lots of CPU time.
