Doing a sweep of upgrades to my aging 2010 Pro (memory, SSD, video card).

Anyone recommend a good video card? I do a bunch of 3D-intensive work.

Thanks!

Gtx 980?

It is a good card, but if you use a non-flashed version. You MUST install AND activate the Nvidia web driver BRFORE you boot from this card, otherwise, there will be nothing on the screen.

Another option is the Nvidia K5000 4Gb Mac Edition for 3D work though it's pricey at around $1500+. You could also look into the Nvidia 770gtx or 780gtx aside from the 980gtx.

Thanks for the additional info!

I'm comfortable with the $600 range I am seeing with the GTX980, but am not seeing anywhere would I would be able to obtain Mac drivers for it?

I am not much of gear expert an have been spoiled by buying systems as a whole vs. customizing like I am now. There may be an obvious solution to this. I saw a general Nvidia web driver utility out there...

Thanks!

My friend. I have an Nvidia Quadro 4000 2048 for Mac that I am not using. Is installed in my 2008 Mac Pro. I am using my Mac Pro as a server and I have it connected via ethernet to my iMac and using share screen. Send my a private, I could sell it to you, I still have the original 256 MB for my Mac Pro that I can install.
