Hi folks,

At night I put my phone into Airplane Mode & on charge & place my Watch on charge next to it.

Whe I turn Airplane mode off on the phone in the morning, the Watch doesn't connect automatically and I have to swipe in and turn Airplane mode and silent off.

Is that right? I presumed the Watch would just automatically re-pair?

Also, is there any way to turn off the 'Bing' that occurs when you place the Watch on charge?

Drives my Wife mad when she's asleep and I come in nice and quietly, then place my Watch on charge!

Cheers.

This isn't really going to be possible.

Turning on AirPlane mode turns off all radio comms on both devices and the phone has no way of telling the watch to turn it back on.

Having it set to do this is a convenience feature for enabling airplane mode and is of course limited in this way.

Don't know about the bing though.

Just out of curiosity why turn on AirPlane mode at night..?

Ah ok, fair enough. Thanks for the info.

I guess I'll have to go back to just putting DND on.

Now, if I could just figure out the charging "Bing", I'd be ok! :D

Mute your watch will turn off that bing sound.

Thought you could "mirror iPhone" in the settings for airplane mode?

You can only mirror the phone to turn airplane mode on, but impossible to turn it off by mirroring. There is no way to turn off airplane mode wirelessly, the main purpose of airplane mode is to switch off all wireless communication.

That's what I presumed, my phone is on Silent when I place it on charge.

Should it not follow the iPhone, seeing as that's on silent?

Makes complete sense when you think about it!:D

From the Apple Watch user guide...

To place both Apple Watch and iPhone in Airplane Mode, open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap My Watch, and turn on Airplane Mode > Mirror iPhone. Then, any time you switch to Airplane Mode on one device, the other will switch to match. To turn off Airplane Mode, you must do it on each device separately.

As far as I know, the watch does not mirror the phone's silent settings. That is independent on the watch, so if you want it muted you have to do it through the Watch app on the phone, or directly on the watch.

Isn't it just easier to put the phone on DND mode? and perhaps the watch on silent, if it doesn't have a DND mode?
