iPod Re-Encode before copying to ipod/iphone

Hi All

Is this possible for anything other than the Shuffle?

I have a large lossless library and this feature would be super useful.

I wonder if there is a script out there that can do this, or perhaps a third-party plug-in?

Any help appreciated.

I second that question, since I got the very same problem. Doug's Apple Script page doesn't seem to have any solution.
 
Lossless to AAC workflow does the trick, have to have your iPhone music manually managed for this to work (thankfully apple added this with 7.6). Basically install the script, select your bitrate in iTunes preferences for the aac encoder, select the track press Lossless AAC workflow iTunes to iPod. Then wait.
