To open PDFs in any browser, you need an Internet plug-in which supports PDFs. For Opera, the QuickTime plug-in will do the job. Open a PDF file within Opera. In the resulting dialog box, change how PDFs are handled to open with the QuickTime plug-in.

The QuickTime Plugin is located in /Library/Internet Plugins/.

no, its not that simple, and I haven't figure out whose fault it is and how to change it.

Checked, no .pdf thingy there
Ah, yes there is:
  • Launch System Preferences.
  • Click the QuickTime preferences pane.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Click the MIME Settings... button.
  • Scroll down to Images - Still Image Files.
  • Click the little triangle to make it expand the category.
  • Make sure that PDF Image is checked. You will find it immediately below TIFF Image.

Got it, sorry, the other extensions are listed before you expand the triangle. How do i get firefox or opera to use this as the pdf reader within the browser? Sorry I'm being so thick.

Opera doent support their product?

Does Opera not support their products. I have spent hours trying to get the PDF plugin working. It works fine in every other browser. In the options to tell Opera to use the plugin there is nothing there. Nobody seems to have posted anything on this. I recently switched to Mac. I have used PC's for years. I have to say that up until this point I dont see the big advantage to a Mac. I bought a MacBook Pro. The OS crashed and lost everything 1 week after purchase. None of the software works well and everything takes twice as long to track down. I finally thought I found a fix for work using Opera but then no pdf in the browers. I need it to open in the browers. At this point out of frustration I am thinking of converting this machine to Windows. Can anyone please help.
