Apps causing slow internet browsing..

I had several apps some large like NES and NES rom packs and it seems my internet has slowed to a crawl in both edge and wifi. Not sure why this would effect anything, but I am almost positive this is the cause.. I removed some of them and it seems my speed has returned. Anyone have this problem or can tell me why this would be related to my apps..
