Hi, I have a Western Digital My Book Studio 500GB portable hard drive. I am migrating from Vista to a Leopard based MBP. Am i right in thinking it is possible to plug the NTFS formatted Studio into the MBP (via FW800) to copy the files?

See I have 120GB in files and it would be a much faster option... if its possible!

Cheers

Yes--Leopard should read an NTFS-formatted drive in that setup. It can't write to NTFS, and if memory serves (which it may not) reading is a little slow, but if it's only a one-time thing you should be good to go.

Hi,
I'm in about the same situation (WD 500GB external harddrive connected to Powermac running either 10.4 or 10.5 - my parents mac, so I don't have it in front of me). My problem is that I need to WRITE to the NTFS-formatted external hard drive - is that not possible at all?
