any powerbook g4 owners running leopard?

Is any powerbook g4 users running leopard? How is your experience? My experience is ok. But i really find leopard to be much to slow compared to tiger. I've been using my pb tonight updating to .2 etc and i really haven't done much power intensive stuff - word and safari and it crashes and is just overall sluggish from expose to loading documents.
I really like leopard, it runs great on my imac but my pb... different story. I was thinking of upgrading the ram to 2gigs but don't feel its worth it because i want to upgrade in may/june to a loaded mpb.
so in sum hows your powerbook running under leopard? same as mine?
 
i loaded leopard onto 2 powerbooks and 2 ibooks.. runs great.. not to slow.. never noticed it anyway
 
have no complaints here on my 12" pb. i mean leopard on my mbp is really fast, yet i use my pb 90% of the time with no complaints. runs great for me. i haven't had anything crash on me. in 10.5.1, i found the pb to be more stable than the mbp. now their both a lot more stable.

I agree.. but with the update i prefer my macbook to the little powerbook.
I would recommend loading leopard to any powerbook owners currently.
 
I maxed the RAM to 1.25Gb on my 12" PowerBook G4, and Leopard runs great. My main issue is that I am one of those weird people who actually likes the transparency on the menu bar, and it won't work on the PowerBook. My overall Leopard experience has been great, although when I play with my parents' and brother's MacBooks my PowerBook feels small and sluggish.
 
I run leopard on my PB 12" with 512 ram it is usable and with 1.25 I notice no difference from using leopard on my powerbook 17". But then again all I do is browse the web and itunes.
 
ummmm... i'll just deal with it for now. I'm at school so i don't have the tiger disks.

What kind of install did you do? The best is to do a full erase and clean install.
 
I am on my 12" 1.33 powerbook g4 with only 512 mb of ram, albeit quite slowly. MY 15" mbp 2.5 ghz is on its way!!!
 
I am typing this on my 1GHz iBook G4 running Leopard 10.5.2.

Running Leopard on a G4 feels like an old ship laboring in heavy seas. It's making headway, but it's slow and not too enjoyable for anyone involved.
 
A PBG4 in my office was running Tiger, but after the hard drive died last month, I reinstalled it with Leopard. It takes *slightly* longer to boot and open programs. Also, I had to zap the PRAM after installing the Leopard Graphics Update because it got stuck at the blue screen before boot. Other than that, no complaints. It is perfectly usable, and is about the same as Tiger after everything is open and running.
 
I thought my PB was running sluggish with 10.5 but then i realized that i had set my desktop picture to change every 5 sec and it was killing my cpu. Changed that to every 15 min and now its quick as a whip (the 2GB ram helps too).

I have a 12-inch 1.5 GHZ G4 Powerbook with 1.25 GB of memory.

It works fantastic with Leopard. I have a current generation iMac too, so I'm not biased towards old machines. The old Powerbook really gets the job done with Leopard.

I use basic things obviously, Safari, iPhoto, Word, etc. but it's a very enjoyable experience. I wouldn't hesitate to update such a Powerbook to Leopard, unless it was lacking memory. You need to max out what the machine can hold in memory IMHO.
 
I run Leopard on my 12" PB 1GHz with only 768MB RAM. It was noticeably slower than Tiger until 10.5.2 but now it has regained its speed and I have no problems whatsoever.

It's just annoying that I can't get the transparent menu bar... (despite having a Core-Image-compatible video card with Dashboard ripple effects).

But my new Penryn 15" MBP is on its way... :D
 
I did an archive and install on my G4 1.67 Powerbook and Leopard is running fine. I also have 2g RAM, so it might help you to upgrade your RAM if you're going to keep your computer awhile. Take the time to repair permissions as well.
