So, I went to my local apple store. I have been looking for a hi res 2.5 17" MBP. Of course, they had a couple in stock on Friday, and I decided to wait until monday, and boom out of stock.
However, I learned something. Basically, the items they have on the signs posted next to the devices is what they carry in stock. So, for example,
17" 2.5 is at the 1680 resolution.
17" 2.6 is at the 1920 resolution.
So, if I wanted the 1920 from the store, I'd have to take the CPU upgrade too which of course $250 for that is not worth imho.
Can anyone else confirm or deny this?
Anyways, I finally decided just to buy it online to get what I want rather than wait for inventory to arrive. What a window I have. I ordered March 3 and it delivers between March 14 and March 21. I just don't want any Screen issues or case bent issues. you spend some good money, and you hope that they do their best to build it to spec.
