yes, i am trying to install xp through boot camp on leopard. no matter how small i make the windows slider, it does not partition. i get the "the disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved". before submitting replies and suggestions, hear me out. i have tried doing it in safe mode (startup files are easier to transfer as they're not in use), i have tried making the partition as small as possible (try using different part sizes, 1gb increments), i have ran disk verify/repair and verify/repair permissions for two days now. i got rid of files bigger than 4 gigs (it was a virtual machine, ironically). my volume is, duh, machintosh extended journaled. the final solution (forgive the term, jewish macaddicts) is to back up my 133.7 gigs of data (i kid you not), to restore my hard drive, and run boot camp again. does anyone have any other suggestions before i whore myself to make up for the money i spent on counterstrike?
 
The easiest way to solve this problem is to defragment your disk. You will need to use a utility like iDefrag or TechTool Pro if you want to defragment your disk without copying all the files off of it and reformatting. There is a chance though that you can fix this without having to completely defragment your disk. If you download the demo version of iDefrag you should be able to view the fragmentation of your disk and find out which files are located near the end of the disk, where you wish to create the Boot Camp partition. If you remove most of the files located near the end of the disk (by copying them to another disk or deleting them) there is a good chance that the Boot Camp partitioning will succeed.
