New MBP: odd top case/button, or normal?

I got my new MBP today, and it's awesome! Something I noticed: the button seems to be raised much higher than what seems normal, and even higher than when I first opened the box. Second, the plastic binding around the top case sticks out noticeably over the side casing, i.e. it's not flush. I also don't remember this when I opened the box. Could it be a function of expansion/contraction with heat/cold? Is this normal? Its worse on the left side, especially towards the back...not nearly so bad on the right.

Sure, I'll do that when I get home from work today. I should note, btw, that after it being in sleep all night, the trackpad button didn't seem as elevated
 
I noticed the same thing with the flushness of the plastic on all the new MacBook Pros at my Apple Store. Especially on the left side near the front corner, the plastic sticks out far enough for you to feel a sharp edge.

That's exactly right! It's only on the left side. I'll be sure to post pics when I can.

It does appear to be very slightly raised and off certain, but certainly with in Apples tolerances, its very slight. You could have an Apple tech pry the top case off and try and reseat it, but that would probably only aggravate the problem. Unless its a huge annoyance I would leave sleeping dogs lie.
 
OK guys, thanks! This is good to know: my new MBP came pretty much perfect!

edit: It's not likely that it will become aggravated through normal use, is it?
 
Unlikely, its pretty tightly secured, I have had my 15in Powerbook G4 for 3 years now, it has almost an identical enclosure, it has some very small gaps, and they have not budged even after it being tossed around in a backpack to classes for the past 3 years. Unless you drop it you should be fine. I know its a little disconcerting considering how finely engineered the whole thing is.
 
you can loosen all the screws on the sides of the bottom case and press down the areas that are raised, while holding them down re-tighten the screws.
 
I've had enough tragedy unscrewing things with my defunct PB 17. I think I'll happily leave it alone :)
