Speakers Everywhere w/iPhone

~just had a quick thought, first thread btw, woulnt it be fn awesome if the iphone had the ability to play music through ur speakers connectd on ur network.

~dont know if this is already doable but since sdk is out just thought id throw it in the air.

~like speakers hookd up through xpress,xtreme or even tc (if usb on latter)

~so when u go to play music on ipod n fone, if headphones arent hookd up it, has already searchd ur network(home or whoevers ur on) and gives u option of playn off internal speakers or if found can play off speakers connectd to ur network.

~and also if u have mutiple speaker setups in house on home network like in ur room,living room,kitchen,wherever option 2 pick which ever room u want or all and if speakers are in use n a specific area have option to deny that room if playn on all speaker setups or to overide and play galore.

~also i know this could conflict with ipod on fone but hopefully it could b done to b incoporated w/ipod but if not somehow the ipod could b redirectd once u start playn music to the app. that has the ability 2 do this(clarificaiton on this would help just so id know,thanx)

~just wantd 2 get ur thoughts on the matter.

~also if theres any app. developers out there readn this, make it happen and ill pay for it gladly; along w/ a many a other id think.

~any agreeance, like to hear other options or ideas to improve, cuz if it comes down to it ill develop it myself and make boatloads

First question, how are multiple speakers in a house set up on a 'home network'? How does one IP connect speakers. If you're talking about computers connected to a network which have speakers attached then you are already capable of playing music through them. If you're using an iPhone then you already have iTunes. Why try to stream music from a handheld device to some remote point on a network when iTunes is already on that network? That's how the phone got the music in the first place.

first- i was talking about having multiple airport expresses in your home with speakers attached to them and if im not mistaken when in iTunes u can choose which speakers to project the audio to so therefore u could do the same with your iPhone.

second- to the next question i know that if u have speakers connected u can play them from a computer but my point is to have the freedom of not having to Stand in front of a computer to select and change songs that i want to play or have to go to the computer every time i want to listen to a different song that might not be on the playlist i am playn etc.

and plus i might not have a computer in everyroom of my house but have airport expresses with speakers hooked up to them and would more than likely have my iPhone or ipod Touch on me rather than havn to go to wherever the computer is to change a song,etc. o yeah who wouldn't want the flexibility of having a remote control to play songs with their library at hand.

hopefully that covered what u wanted to know

to the latter comment, maybe i dont need to breathe more. maybe u need to get on my level and think harder what's add anyway

Yes, it's certainly possible for an app to be written to do this as long as there was something in iTunes to actually permit it but when you've dumped your battery down to 20% and you've got an incoming call I think there's going to be an issue. You'd probably be better off doing this with a Touch. You wouldn't have the phone and EDGE usage accelerating the battery drain. Network use takes a lot out of the phone battery.

correct, not really a whole lot of experience. just thought it would be cool. also it never even occured to me about the battery, that proly would drain it alot. never used my phone on wireless alot so didnt know it drains a lot. had my wifi turned on but got tired of getting annoyed all the time when i went to my friends' houses and keep getting asked to join other people's network, since i dont have their unlock code couldn't get on and just got irritated with it afterwhile and keep it turned off pretty much now.
