I recieved it in the mail today.

I was a bit worried of what negatives it may have, after reading all the horror stories on the forum but alas, it came in heavenly condition.

There is one tiny, tiny, tiny little scratch on the edge of the lid but no one can see unless they try and find something.

The screen is perfect, fan's seems to be running well. Now to just customize it to my liking, which might prove to be tricky.

All in all, I love it!

It is very sexy and if your holding off on buying one because of the negatives you read, don't! Just buy it and be happy!

Regards

Jamin

congrats! youll love it!

the horror stories are due to users being more vocal about issues rather than satisfied users.

a general rule of thumb would be to ignore those posts if you are about to buy unless it is a wide-spread issue which Apple would fix in a software or firmware update.

Couldn't agree more with the Threadstarter. I tho got mine 6th March and it works perfectly well. Couldn't be more happy with it than I am. Not a single flaw, it's all good. And the better thing: It doesnt get hot... Been playing alittle wow on it, and sure, after 3-4 hours it gets alittle hot, like 60-70 C. But it's a GREAT Machine. :)

I'm the same - I think it's fantastic and it runs everything with such ease (I had Handbrake ripping at 80fps, time machine backing-up and was working on Photoshop and it didn't faulter at all).

I have a few niggles - the screen doesn't go back as far as my old PowerBook which is annoying when it's actually on my lap. I'd say the CD drive is a little noisy when it ejects. And, for me, the position of expose and dashboard on the function keys are wrong - they'd be better on f1 and f2 or f11 and f12. But just really small niggles!!

I love, love, love it.

i got mine the first thursday afer they were released, first mac ever and i love it :) 2.4 2gig mac pro matte screen

I'm replacing my Powerbook G4 (1.25Ghz). I should have my new 2.5/250GB delivered on Wednesday. I'm excited.
I was wondering if anyone knows if they still have the "sudden motion sensor". It's not listed as a feature anymore.

PS I ordered the 4GB ram upgrade from OWC for $98.49 (shipping included), with a $20 rebate if you send them the stock memory (2GB). A better solution than ordering it stock for an extra $400. (In my opinion.)

whats a sudden motion sensor?

About the Sudden Motion Sensor
Last Modified on: May 16, 2006
Article: 300781
All MacBook and MacBook Pro computers, PowerBook G4 computers starting with PowerBook G4 (12-inch 1.5GHz), PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz), and PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.67GHz) and iBook computers starting with iBook G4 (Mid 2005) have Sudden Motion Sensor technology, built-in protection for the hard disk that is designed to help prevent disk failures if the computer is dropped or undergoes severe vibration. The Sudden Motion Sensor is designed to detect unusually strong vibrations, sudden changes in position or accelerated movement. If the computer is dropped, the Sudden Motion Sensor instantly parks the hard drive heads to help reduce the risk of damage to the hard drive on impact. When the Sudden Motion Sensor senses that the PowerBook position is once again stable, it unlocks the hard drive heads, and you are up and running within seconds.

In general, Sudden Motion Sensor protection does not change hard disk performance with regular PowerBook, MacBook or MacBook Pro operation. Occasionally, the Sudden Motion Sensor may be activated by unusually strong vibrations at a time when your PowerBook is writing data intensively, such as when recording video or audio. Should you experience dropped frames or sound elements in such a situation, make sure that your PowerBook is in a stable environment without vibration or abrupt movement.

(Note that in some locations you may see the Sudden Motion Sensor referred to as the Mobile Motion Module. Both names refer to the same feature.)

Nice, I just got mine on Saturday. I'm still getting used to the Mac OS but I know im gonna love it real soon. Im coming straight from Windows XP :)

Maybe its my critical eye but i noticed that the new Penryn macbook pros look slightly thicker and so do the macbooks when i looked on apple site. Certainly thicker than my core 2 duo MBP... is this true or just appears this way?
Was the first thing that caught my eye when i looked on site

Been there and done that in November. You will have a few rough days coming from XP because your brain won't let you deal with the simplicity of Leopard. I kept trying to make things way more difficult than they needed to be. I would suggest looking at the tutorials on the Apple Site. Nice short videos that can help speed up the transition.

Welcome to Mac!

Got mine, and completed the migration from my old Powerbook 1.25Ghz G4. Installed the 4GB RAM upgrade from OWC. So far, so perfect. I love it. Zero Defects.
