MBP PRO OR blackbook

so i went to guitar center today and they will give me a macbook pro 2.0ghz? for 1999 plus rane serato djing software for 520.

mbp 2.0ghz
1999

2670.12 with tax

correct me if im wrong but isnt the latest mbp carry 2.4ghz?

which one do you guys think i should get? and should i tell him to get me my mbp wid penryn? im not sure man lolll still debating im just gonna use it for some surfing maybe put vista on it to use acid pro a bit but mainly i will use serato on mac osx10. i am getting 1 year intrest free financing and no payments so thats why should i stil splurge on getting the mbp? or go nice and ez with the black book?

If they are selling you a MBP with a 2.0 GHz processor, then they are selling you something older. The current generation starts at 2.4 GHz, and the previous generation started at 2.2 GHz. The base model machine always costs $1,999 in the MBP line.

I'd say if you're going to buy the MBP, then order it from Apple. The software should still cost the same regardless of where you buy the machine from...

As for which machine to get - if you're not doing anything that's going to be graphics or disk intensive (I don't know anything about the application you have mentioned above), then the Blackbook would probably work for you (heck, the base Macbook probably would work).

that' a very old MBP you got there.
 
i went to the apple store and the guy i mac guy i spoke too did say that yeah they are selling me a old macbookpro.

feature wise i like the way the mbp keyboard is really that is necessary for djing in the dark.

i like the aluminum case it seems to be more tough. anyone think otherwise?

he said that because the mbp has its own graphic card it hogs up the cpu less then the processor dependant video card on the blackbook.

the led screen is very bright i really think thats a great feature.

more battery life ++++

bigger screen for mixing audio !!! +++

i think im really falling for the macbook pro.

the last thing that would really really really sell me if it came wid a 7200rpm hd. that would be all it would take.

but how hard is it to replace the drive? anyone know?

also due to the fact that i can finance the damn mbp for 1 year no intrest
i feel it may be worth the splurge. and i think if i can get last gen mbp 2.4ghz he said was faster then the basemodel of the penryn mbp thats out now due to the cache!.

i will find out more info from my boys at guitar center and tell you guys what happened lol! thanks for the help
 
If he's giving you the old one for $1,999, wouldn't you rather get the new version with more memory and a bigger hard drive for the same price?

It's going to look the same, except it's going to run a hell of a lot better, and if you ever need to sell it it will sell for more, too.

yeah lol i will make sure that he does sell me the penryn basemodel mbp or they have to give me a discount on the old school mbp they have or i get a blackbook

You need to ask your sell if the larger screen, better graphics card, and backlighted keyboard are worth $500.00 to you? For me I went 17" because the feature were worth it for me to spend the extra money where as my wife who only web surfs and listens to music has a MB as none of the extra features are worth spending the money for her to use.

Agreed. The current base model is the same price and better specs.

What's the name of the software you need? Check other places to see if it's cheaper. I'm guessing it will be.
 
i will make sure that guitar center does sell me a basemodel Macbook pro penryn

the reasons why i want the mac book pro vs macbook is because
backlight keyboard
led display shows much better vs macbook
multitouch is cool! i have n iphone n love multitouch
aluminum case seems to be nicer and much durable
bigger screen.
i like the screen on my sisters laptop which is 15 inch also i thin 17 too big i thinkn 13 maybe to small for me.

also according to the apple site and the apple mac guy lol the graphics on the macbook takes up 144mb of the main memory which im not to fond of!

the graphics card on the mbp is much better then the card i have in my hp desktop lol so its more then i will need!

im excited cant wait to get my macbook pro guys!:p:p
