I just bought a little JVC HD Camcorder and despite the manual stating that all I need to do to have it recognised by Mac is connect it and turn it on. Of course it does not.

Is this to be expected, or can anyone recommend a good forum for discussing Mac/video/hardware issues?

How are you connecting it? Firewire or USB?

Do you have the AC adapter attached? You should.

Is it not being recognized by iMovie or in the Finder? Does it show up as an attached device in the system profile?
