"Whats so cool about the macbook pro?"

Me: EVERYTHING..

But let say someone (WINDOZE user) walk up to u and say..whats so cool about Apple.. what will you show them on your macbook pro that you think would capture their interest and make them think its wayyy cooler than PC??

I'm asking this cause I recently got my new mbp and a couple of my friends and roommates has been asking me this question. I find myself showing off iAlertU (admit it..the car alarm and capture/email picture is pretty cool).. and FrontRow with remote control to show picture slideshows and trailers.

What is the first app/feature you use to show off your mbp??
 
I would show them ctrl+ 2 finger scroll to zoom in and out and on safari by leaving the cursor on top of a word and pressing ctrl+apple button +d and it shows the definition of that word.
 
And another cool thing you can tell them is that you always learn new things all the time about your mbp and osx!:D
 
in addition to what everyone has said already. i'd say the Hardware itself, there's something about the minimalist approach, it's such a beauty! and the reason they asked you what's so cool about it.. only means they're "jealous" deep inside:D you wouldn't ask about something that doesn't catch your attention
 
The ability to change the language that the OS works to a new one without reinstalling everything.

That was one of the features that got me hooked to buy a mac. I've been on the Windows World since '92.

The easy of use of the OS, the hardware compatibility and the simplicity of the security.

The Few but really good software that DO WORK!

The beauty of the lines and the sexy feel of this gorgeous machine under my hands...
 
The coolest thing you can ever do is get your buddy's infected virus file and drop it on the desktop of you osx and show them how its immune!:D
 
The first thing I would show them is my Anti-Virus software. "I don't see it," the friends replies. "That's because I don't have any and it's still more secure than any wet dream Bill Gates every had," I say.

If that doesn't do it, show them Time Machine. Easiest backup I have ever seen. iPhoto also is the best photo organizing software I have seen (and it's free!)

If you ever hear any complaints about "lack of software," show them Parallels.

But alas, the lack of Anti-Virus software and Time Machine are two of the best. If it's a kid under 12, show them Photo Booth.
 
Nothing. I would simply tell them that it fits my needs. If they can't bother to look up what Mac OS X has to offer, I'm not going to bother to tell them. Besides, I'm not an Apple billboard. I didn't buy a MBP because it's "cool" or because I think Mac OS X is "cool." I typically don't buy something because it's trendy. I buy something because it has a functionality that I need.

Well... I don't think it's all the machine, you know? I like the fact I'm able to use the system for weeks and weeks with beautiful Mac OSX and not worry about Viruses, Trojans, Worms and the stupid registry!

The sole reason why I converted to OS X is because of its functionality. After a year of IT work, I got really tired of all the troubles that windows cause. I got tired of updating/scanning my antivirus every week, check that ZoneAlarm box, scan for adware. It feels good to just turn on a machine and use it and have it meet your expectation.
 
Windows Games

I use boot camp to go into XP and load Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and show them the elite 3D game performance whilst showing them windows compatibility. That and the two fingered scroll. :D
 
I remember when I was selling my iMac - the future owners requested it be reformatted, so I did so.

After it was done, the Leopard intro came on, and they were sold. There first words were: "Whoa! You don't see this on a Dell!".
 
I don't really show the machine to people.

I just use it at my desk at work, doing whatever I feel like doing at the time.

If they express an interest or are surprised that I have a mac, I show them some of the reasons I enjoy the OS and I explain that I am a sucker for sexy hardware.

For me, a big part of the reason I love my macbook pro is the look. It is pretty much the thinnest laptop overall in its power class, I love the backlit keyboard and the tactile feel of the keys.

Also, there is no mistaking it for any other machine. Everybody knows what it looks like, and I smile every time I see one in a TV show or in a magazine ad or other place because I know that it is one of the best looking machines on the market today.

I find OS X easier to use for day to day tasks than Windows. Installation and removal of programs is easier and less hassle, don't typically have to restart after installing applications. I like my mac and the OS a lot, but I'm not at all down on Windows.

I think the biggest turn-off for "windoze" people when it comes to macs is people who are mac "evangelists" and start going on and on about how much better OS X is than Windows. I think there is a difference between being pro apple and being anti-windows.

If you bought a new car, and someone came up to ask you how you liked it and why you chose that particular one over any of the other available choices and you start telling them that their car sucks, they are going to get defensive.

If you tell them about your old car and why you think this new one is better, they are more likely to keep an open mind and listen to what you have to say.

Uhh, you used ZoneAlarm? There's your problem. I run Windows on my desktop, no software firewall/antivirus/antispyware, no issues.

I was an IT for the engineer department at UCSD.. and zonealarm was one of the mandatory programs for all the staff, along with symantec antivirus and adaware.

Well it's hardly Windows' fault that you had to use horrific software. There are many other things you can obviously fault Windows for, but that was a crummy one :p

Great tip, I did not know that before. FYI, I don't have to highlight the word either, just need the cursor over it. I wonder if this specific to Leopard maybe?

Nope doing that since tiger, great way to learn new words! yea you just have to do is put your cursor over the word.
