battery took a nose dive i think!?

not sure how accurate iStat is (given that its just jumped 8% from simply unplugging and plugging the power adapter in) but iStat was telling me my battery was at 62% health for 70 cycles which IMO is ****.

its so **** it cant possibly right can it?

ill be honest i do use mine on the batt a fair bit but i used to get over 4 hours (general work, dim screen) and now its telling be less than 2 hours. the damn things less than a year old and the battery is already fubar'd... not my idea of good to be fair.

what should i do? i do do the conditioning routine....the running it flat then leaving it in sleep to get flatter and then charging it. i dont do it monthly, but i do do it.
 
well i left it on battery this morning and told it not to turn off after some inactivity

i got back and it was dead, not even in sleep, so i assume the batt is as flat as a pancake.

just started her up and im still getting told my health is merely 61%

something must of happened because yesterday at uni, i shut the lid with 1 hour of batt remaining. when i woke it 30 minutes later it told me i had only 12 minutes of juice left.

i guess its ****ed then

i dont have an apple store anywhere near me, ill have to phone apple care (which i have)
 
I had the same issue two months ago (diagnosed with iStat). Call AppleCare and they'll get you a new battery pronto.
 
I had the same issue 2 days ago. My battery dropped to 65% at 107 cycles + and to my dismay it was bulged and disfigured. The battery indicator button had moved somewhat out of place and I wasn't able to press it. Started googling it and found out this was defective battery and Apple had issued a recall not so long ago.

Wen't down to the Apple store and got it replaced no questions asked.

P.S. got a 2.16ghz MBP bought a year ago.
 
I had a similar issue in January. Battery was at 95%-100% health since June, then over the course of a week dropped to below 50% health. Tried calibrating the battery, nothing changed. Called up AppleCare, read some stats from the System Profiler, and they overnighted a new battery to me, no questions asked. I put the old battery back in the box and shipped it back to Apple.
 
nice to know im not the only one

was on the blower with the apple care guy and after all his hard work we couldnt go through with the service call because i dont have a credit card and he wouldnt accept my debit card so he give me the numbers of some apple certified stores near me instead.

bit annoyed about that because that phone call probably cost me over £10 on my mobile! (no land line here)

anyway, took it to the store and when they looked at it the battery had dropped another 10% health down to 50%. its lost about half its capacity in the space of a day!

but they took the batt, no questions asked and ill have a new one within two weeks. ill have to run on mains until then though which will hamper me, but its better than having no computer at all!
