Okay - hopefully I give you all the info needed... I am in the deep end... actually I am probably in the shallow end, but I am really short. :)

I have an Imac running OSX... it is currently connected to an HP inkjet. The Imac is connected to our home network via wireless. I also us a macbook (OSX)and an HP laptop (Windows XP)... both connected to the network via wireless.

I have an epson inkjet that I would like to be able print to, and 2 Xerox Phaser 6180's that I would like to be able to print to... Rather... I NEED to print to Phasers from the Imac, I would like to print to the Phasers from the PC and the macbook.

I hope this is clear... in the perfect world I want to print to all printers from any computer. If that is not possible, I must be able to print to both phasers from the Imac.

What do I need to do to make this happen?

I would also like to be able to access files from computer to computer, but I suppose that is a different thread entirely. :)

TIA

Unless any of the printers are natively networkable then the easiest solution is to attach them all to the iMac. Then turn on printer sharing and you should be able to print to them over the network from the other machines as long as the iMac is turned on.

If you turn on file sharing you can access files computer-to-computer.

Check out the sharing preferences in System Preferences.

Printing to them FROM the windows machine could be a little tricky, but it will work. Just make sure you have sharing enabled for the printers and Windows Sharing enabled as well.

Printer sharing is under your printer options in the Printers icon of System Prefs.

Windows sharing is under your Sharing icon of System prefs.

But as was said, as long as you get proper (latest) drivers for all of your printers installed on that iMac and have them all connected to that iMac, you should be just fine.
