Hi, I recently bought a MacBook Pro and I wanted to know which are the features of the SuperDrive that comes builtin.
Does it have lightscribe? Speed?
I know that supports every CD, DVD.

Anyone have more details about it?

BYW my model is MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-867

Thanks

Lightscribe is a feature of HP dvd burners...
the ones that come in the MBPs are
8x Dual Layer Superdrives

I have a laptop that has Lightscribe and I think I've used it a total of once. It is kinda once of those novelty items that you rarely use. At least, that's the case with everyone I've spoken to.

I definitely do not miss the Lightscribe on my Mac.

Lightscribe

ehhh its pretty cool i guess
never used it.
seems like you need the special drive and then have to get another cd label program.

thats so much work just to say what is on the disk

Burns DVD+-R @ 8x, DL @ 4x. RAM @ 2.4x. Read all @ 8x

Doesn't do anything else.

It (depending on the revision of the macbook pro) can read and write CD's (CD-R, CD-RW) and DVD's (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW). There is no lightscribe capability on it. Speed can be either 6x (older ones) or 8x (SR and the multitouch MBP's).

Edit: write speeds will be slower...

is it really that slow?
my windows comp had a 52x write speed and it was like 100 maybe.

Due to the difference in technology and the fact that CD's are 700MB and DVD's are 4.7GB single layer or 9.4GB dual layer it takes longer to read a DVD than it does a CD.
