Hello, I am trying to help my aunt look for a new mac. She is a graphic design "artist" and right now has a G4 (not sure what that really is due to previous generations). I am wondering which mac she would benefit from. We do not have enough for a mac pro unfortunately, so it really is between the iMacs. I do not want something that could be overkill but I know this work is computer intensive. Hope this makes sense and I don't sound TOO stupid but any help is appreciated. Thanks again !

The 2.4 GHz iMac seems to be a good solution, I'd recommend if she's planning on using Photoshop or anything like that to upgrade the machine to 2 GB of RAM.

I use a 24" iMac for general design purpose (InDesign, Photoshop etc) at work and find it extremely satisfactory. The screen is good and performance in general is more than adequate. I'd recommend maxing out the RAM, (don't buy extra RAM from Apple - cheaper from Crucial), but otherwise the basic 24" should do just fine.

I had the same issues last October. I had a G4 1.25 Duelie. I could not afford a Mac Pro either. I opted for an iMac alum 2.8 GHz machine. I could have purchased the 2.4 as well, but decided what the hell.....lol!

As a graphic designer, this iMac was worked great. Would suggest it to your aunt!
