Hey all,

I'm looking for a good free (hard to come by) program that'll convert a Mov file to another format, preferably wmv. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

Trevor

I can understand wanting to convert to something other than .mov, since it may give some PC users trouble, but why would you want to convert to .wmv? Consider .mp4, since it's pretty much the standard for movies right now, and everyone'll be able to use it.

I have no idea what will convert .mov to .wmv, but the free iSquint will convert anything to .mp4.

the file I have to convert is 4.75 gigs big. Wmv is just a preference, i need something that windows movie maker can import, and Mp4 won't suffice either. I tried exporting iMovie to different formats, but they all look rather pixelated. Any other suggestions?

ffmpegX is free and will give you the options to convert into many different formats. Make sure to follow the installation instructions if you do decide to try ffmpegX.

According to Microsoft, Windows Movie Maker will import video in MPEG1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2 and .wmv
