Hello All, I recently purchased a mac pro 2.8 w/standard 320 GB hard drive and 2 gigs of ram last Saturday. I immediately updated my software when I connected to the net and I have 10.5.2. Little did I know the update does me no good because I wanted to use my computer for music and pro tools doesn't work with 10.5.2. I wanted to know what is the best way (if possible) to downgrade back to 10.5.1? I have the install disc for OS X (10.5.1), the computer came with it. Is it easy as inserting the disc? I know I'm probably going to lose all of my files that I have on my hd so far, but I really didn't get to do anything so I don't mind. Thanks in advance for your help.

Downgrading 10.5.2 to 10.5.1

firstly backup all your data by cloning your hard disk to an external drive using SuperDuper! (licensed) or the free Carbon Copy Cloner.
then to downgrade to 10.5.1, which i am assuming is what is on your install DVD, i would do an "Archive and Install" as 10.5.2 was a big update and installed tonnes of system files. so a simple "Upgrade" of the system files to 10.5.1 may not be successful. An Archive and Install makes a new system and 'archives' the old system which you can delete afterwards.
to do an Archive and Install select it from Options in the installer. here is a document from Apple on how to do an Archive and Install and which files are left preserved.
if all goes wrong you have that trusty clone that you made before. do an "Erase and Install" and then either use Migration Assistant in the Setup Assistant to migrate over your user account, apps and files or just do a drag and drop if your competent.

Thanks I will try exactly what you described. I first have to get an external hard drive though, was planning on getting one anyway
