I left my computer for around 30 minutes and when I came back the dock was missing from the bottom of my screen. There was no minimize option in any windows. I haven't set it to disappear or that so I don't know what the problem was. I found this piece of information from Console. Does anyone know why this could have happened?

If pressing CMD+OPTION+D doesn't work, then restart the Dock (I forget the Terminal command).

A logout will do the same thing.

"killall Dock"

That restarts the Dock, but only if it is already running. It is worth giving a try.

Thanks for everyones replies. I knew the "killall Dock" command for Terminal I just wondered if anyone knew why this could have happened. If anyone has seen the "Mac OCD" thread you will understand my reasons for now reinstalling leopard.

Sounds like the dock just crashed for some unknown reason...I recall having this happen once either on Tiger or Leopard.....killall dock will do the trick...
