easy osx question... executing/opening file without dbl clicking

How do you open/execute a file without double clicking the file? Pressing enter only lets me rename the file.

Also, what is the album art widget that everyone uses that shows the album art on a cd/vinyl cover?

The :apple: key and O opens files for you.

I think the program for the album artwork is called Coversutra.
