I just purchased a macbook along with the canon mx310 printer. I have set up wireless internet and would also like to print wirelessly. Is this possible? I am new to forums and MACs so any help is appreciated.

It is possible! Your printer will need to be connected to the router (IF it has a USB port)
Lots of routers don't but Apple's airport extreme does.
If your router doesn't have a USB port, you'll need to connect the printer to a PC on the network (Mac / Windows both work) and set up sharing.

wireless help continued

I tried to connect my printer to my belkin router, but one end of the cable doesn't fit into the computer. Do I need a special internet cable? None of mine fit into the canon mx310. Please help.
