OK so my macBook (every 6 moths or so) will stop tuning on all the way. It will say starting OS X and do the loading bar thing but than on the Blue screen that usually only lasts a second it stops and wont go anywhere. It has a mouse (and it works). So i have to reinstall OS X and it works for 6 moths or so and than it does it agin. Has anyone had this problem or is it just me. Is there anything I can do or do i just have to reinstall the OS every 6 months. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a tough one. If it were my Macbook the first thing I would check are the hardware updates. Such as boot rom or EFI firmware. You can go here to check if yours is the correct version and download the update if needed. If no problems there then maybe look into replacing the hard drive. I really don't think the hard drive is the problem but when things like that happen it could be the early signs of a hard drive failure. If it still under warranty then take it to the Apple store. Hope that helps.

Have you used the Grey Install Disks?

You can start-up with the install disk and holding down the "C" key. What about holding the Option button down at the same time as press the power button. Press the power button and press down on the command and option keys until you hear the second start-up sound, this resets the PRAM or parameter RAM. Also, did you install new memory? Keep us posted.

hey so i took it to the Apple store after a failed OS X reinstall and they reinstalled the OS and took it in for tests. The guy had no idea y it would keep doing this every 6 months or so. Oh yeah and i had thows ugly cracks in the palm rest fixed for free too :)

so we will see what they find

they called me today and said they could not find anything wrong when they did the tests(usually $85 but he gave it to me considering he had no idea what was going on) so they are going to give it back to me now and hope it doesn't happen again

Hard to diagnose an intermittent problem, especially on a forum like this, but I would suspect the hard drive first. Consider investing in a replacement and see how that goes. The second possibility would be RAM. I'd try the Apple Hardware Test and let it run the mem test repeatedly and see what happens.

Hopefully it's resolved, but it sounds like 6 months from now, it'll return. I just wish it would have acted during their tests. Well, you saved the $85 fee! Keep us posted if it acts up. :(

well since it has you worried now, maybe you should sell it and with that money get a new one or just get it damaged and replaced under warranty
