I'm a new Mac user and I've ran into a problem. I've setup my laptop with .mac and it appears my Mail is already setup also.

The problem I'm having is I can't send out any email! This is the error I'm getting when trying to send.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cannot send message using the server smtp.mac.com:user.name

The connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then get the option to choose but there is online one: "smtp.mac.com:user.name (Offline)"

I've clicked "Try with Selected Server" but it just times out and give the same error message again. I know it can communicate to the server because it was able to download my Inbox, Sent, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

NM... I've figured out the problem.

Apple Mail be default uses port 25. The correct port is 587.
