I have a new MBP and a 30" studio display, and I am wondering if there is some way to make the studio the primary display when connected.
I need the real estate but it is a pain to work on the studio side when the menus are all on the MBP display.
Thanks

Connect the display, a keyboard, and a mouse. Press the power button. When you hear the "bong", close the lid.
It should boot up with the external monitor as the primary display.
If it momentarily goes to sleep after booting, press a key on the keyboard to wake it up.

Alternatively, you could go to "Displays" in System Preferences. There should be a tab called "Arrangement". There should also be a small white stripe at the top of one of the squares that represents your display. Simply click and drag it from one display to the other, and the Menubar and Dock go right on over!

Thanks!!!!

Worked perfectly. I did not realize the white bar could be separated.
