I've searched around this forum and elsewhere, but couldn't quite find the type of answer I'm looking for.
For various reasons throughout the years, I've always needed the capability to record directly the audio produced by the sound card internally (no cable going from headphone out to mic in).
On my PC, I have a Creative SB Live sound card, which includes a "What you hear" recording input (which is the system audio).
Today, for the first time, I attempted this on my new MacBook Pro, and I see no such option. Is this simply limited by the Intel sound card on my Mac, or disabled by the Mac OS, or is there something I can download to provide this capability?
I notice people recommending third party software to achieve this, or recommending running a cable between ports, but I'd like the cleanest recording possible, and I already use Adobe Soundbooth and Final Cut's Soundtrack Pro, so I'd like to stick with that software.
I just wonder if I can do something to make my sound card do this for me.
Because at the moment, I've been forced to go back to my old PC to accomplish this task.
Any help for this Mac noob would be greatly appreciated.
