Help! Dell Dimension 2400!?!?

Ok, So I'm home from school because it's our between terms break. My brother decides that he wants me to look at his Dell Dimension 2400. So I plug everything in and it starts beeping. It beeped about 6 times and some circles with letters in them lit up on the back where the keyboard plugs in. When I turn it on the button is green and stuff but nothing happens. It seems like everything is on and should be working fine, but it's not. I haven't the slighting idea of what is wrong with it. It's gotta be the computer because I tested the monitor on another computer we have and it worked just fine.

The only guesses I could even begin to make would be either something is wrong with the BIOS or maybe some kind of heating issue or possibly the HD?

Anyone have any idea of what is wrong with this thing?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

isnt a system beeping at boot - then not boot a ram related problem?

either that or you were leaning on a key! :D

The buttons are labeled A B C & D

A is lite up Green and B,C, and D are lite up in Orange.

There are 6 beeps.

I'll post the pics as soon as I find my camera chord.
 
Try reseating the memory modules - the light codes on the back indicate a memory problem. If you could also record the beep codes and send them to my e-mail, I could maybe get a better idea of the exact problem - there are specific patterns that are pretty easy to recognize.

I have sad new...My friend Max ended up coming over a little bit ago and I got him to tear it apart and he said it's the processor. He also said it would be cheaper to buy another computer than to replace it. My brother is just going to use my parents for now until he decides what he wants to do.

haha, maybe now I can get my brother to buy a Mac. He already loves my MBP. Maybe something good will come out of the death of this PC.
 
i wouldnt be SO sure just yet.. unless he is some sort of pro

like the dude said above.. beeps and light patterns are easily to recognise

im very sure you wouldnt get anything out of your laptop not even a peep if the processor died.. dont hold me to that

beeps are very commonly related to ram problems

He knows what he's talking about, but just to be safe we had someone else look at it too and they said the same.

It's not a laptop, it's a desktop and all I know is what everyone has said. It was four years old so my brother needs a new computer anyways.
