I meant on the current generation. What one thing you could add to your current touch via software or hardware that would send you into a state of utopia.

If that's the case, would the GPS you wished for in your OP simply be a software upgrade? I have no idea but it seems to me that if the hardware was GPS capable we'd have it enabled right now.

For me, it would be a spreadsheet app, then it could pretty much totally replace my present 4.5 year-old HP Pocket PC/PDA (with a few missing features the Pocket PC has, like bluetooth, but I'd live)

the gps would be an add on device through the dock. There is already one in the works.

Yeah, I thought of that after I posted and re-read your second post (which replied to the FM-Tuner/speaker request).

However, couldn't the same (through the dock port) easily be done too for the FM tuner and speaker? Or am I (most likely) missing something?

Mike

they already have a GPS but its an add on which plugs into the bottom and you must JB your device.

then they already have mini speakers in which you plug into the bottom..

and the FM tuner i would like to see in the future:apple:

GPS - well sort of

With the new software-update there is a GPS-like function via Yahoo maps - although it does not work everywhere. To get GPS you need a satelite sender/receiver as the Ground Position System is based on satelite information.

What I would like is a separate more powerful interface to manage my touch because I use it for other stuff - contact info etc. Not too happy with iTunes for this task.

Ipod touch improvements

I would like to be able to see comments in the youtube player, flash, and to get movies/tv shows from the wifi store

ipod touch

built in speaker, doesnt have to be that good.
i dont need gps, maps is good enough.
rent movies from the itunes store.
volume controls on the side
:D

I want a screen that is fingerprint/smudge proof. Surely some engineer or chemist can figure this out. If touch interfaces are the future it is going to be a smudgy one unless they do.

4D ;)

Speaker, YouTube comments and the ability to adjust volume while the thing is in sleep mode.

Where? I know one was displayed at cebit, but I dont think its out yet?

A GPS without maps is kinda useless, so a company like TomTom or one of the others will have to come out with software and maps that can be downloaded onto your iPod. With the limited memory on the devices, I'm not sure how much sense a GPS makes, unless they bump up the storage capacity by a pretty large amount.
