My school is unloading some of the old Macbook Pro's at a discount. I just was hoping for some opinions on whether i should go for the last model, a new one, or wait, my powerbook is hitting the 4 yr mark and I plan on getting a new computer before I enter graduate school in the fall. Here is what the school has on sale

MacBook Pro 15.4" Part# MA896LL/A
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1440 x 900 Resolution
2GB RAM
160GB hard drive
8x double layer superdrive
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 256MB SDRAM
Originally: $2299, Now $1499

Sounds like the old model is the way to go. You would be saving $500 compared to the current 2.4Ghz Penryn model which isn't much faster.

Even with your Edu discount you'd still be saving $350-$400.

I'm assuming the old model is not 'used'?

No sense waiting for the next upgrade, as it may not be for another 6 months.
