Just what the title saids.. anyone here use dual monitors with the mac pro and if so what monitors and do you use the same monitors or different?? Also is it worth it??

Yes. 17" and 15" viewsonics. I've been using dual monitors since 2001. I find it very 'worth it'. I feel uncomfortable, claustrophobic like, when on 1 monitor.
I am looking at getting a widescreen very soon. Probably a 22-24" range. Even then I'll be using dual monitors, even if I use the secondary less. It's just nice to have the extra workspace.

I use a 24" and a 20" i wish they were the same models. I bought the 20" first as its what i could afford, but then later bought the 24" as that 20" model is no longer sold. Now of coarse the 24" model isn't sold anymore either. 
But its still great.

mine are different, and i really like it that way. the wide screen on the left for track view and the square one on the right for mix/plug ins/other crap.

Hmm I'm looking into getting a cheaper 2nd monitor as well and just use the 23" ACD as the main..
I use 2 Dell 2405FPW's. I bought one new and one used sometime after the first one. I have a hueyPRO which I tried to get them calibrated identically, and they're close--but not perfect. I think I'll upgrade to some new monitors towards the end of the year, but these suit me for now.
I prefer have 2 of the same monitor because I like the same amount of screen real estate on each one, as well has having the same resolution.
A lot of photography people will run a dual setup with a smaller screen on the side that they can flip horizontal/vertical easily for photo manipulation. Also, some people like them vertical for emails and reading large files or spread sheets.
There's a lot of different approaches. Just depends what you need.

Two 23" ACD's here, and loving it. For video it is close to essential, for all the other things I do it's just great. I got a Spyder3 for calibration btw, which is important, since the screens rarely match perfectly, even if it's the same models, as mine.

Just got a 28" Viewsonic yesterday. On the side we have a 22" Viesonic. We some times bring our rig with us on jobs and we need a small screen to drag along, hence the difference sizes.

Two 24" Soyo DYLM24D6 with built-in speakers in each. They're great displays and will be perfect for what I'll be doing.

ACD 23 and 20 on mac pro, 23 for main uncluttered drawing area (photoshop, illustrator, strata cx, cinema 4d) and 20 for all tool menu windows. Love the ACD screens.
Also recently got a Samsung SM225BW for my G4 dual 1.25 which is used for all reference material and general email/print etc. Use Pantone Huey Pro to callibrate all 3, and very hard to tell difference between ACD 20 and Samsung when placed together. Only comment on Samsung is viewing angle not as good as ACD.

I am using a 24 inch BenQ G2400W and a 19 inch Trinitron CRT. The BenQ is the best TN panel I have ever seen in my life.
I can't use a computer with one monitor anymore. I just feel frustrated when I try. Dual monitors is the single biggest productivity upgrade you can do, at least until you realize you can work and watch movies at the same time. I also don't think there is any way I could use 2x 24 inch monitors, though; that is just too much horizontal screen real estate. What would be great is is a 24 inch monitor and a 20 or 22 inch monitor in portrait mode. That would probably be my ideal setup.
I also keep my dock on the smaller CRT, so I can have the most free real estate on my larger LCD. That alone was a nice change.

Yeah, that is my setup. For some reason, one widescreen and one square or portraited monitor just feels the most ergonomic to me.
Currently not doing anything important with the mac, but you can see what it's like with 2 screens,
on the right is my 20in Cinema screen with anything i'm currently using, on the old 17in Iiyma to the left goes things like iTunes, Aduim and anything that is good to monitor but doesn't need to get in my way on the main screen

I've been using identical duals on my Mac Pro, a pair of old Dell 2405's calibrated with Gretag's system. Been using identical monitors of different brands over the past 10+ years with huge 21" CRTs. It's nice having a windows VMware Fusion on one screen and Mac OS X on the other.
However, lately the dual setup has been bothering me. I no longer like the 1-2" gap between the monitors and hate having to always look to one side or the other. Ergonomically it has been bugging my neck and my eyes as well...
I recently was able to play with a friends 30" along side a vertical side monitor. I may end up with this type of setup later this year. I prefer looking straight into a large monitor and having a side or even two side monitors (vertically oriented) of smaller sizes to the left and right.
With spaces in Leopard I find it not as necessary to have dual identical as I can easily have fusion full screen on a 30" and assign it to one of the spaces.

I have two 20" ViewSonic VG2021m monitors. I like them but would trade both for a single 30" ACD in a heartbeat.
I really dont know which screen to buy to compliment my 23" ACD.. I'm looking at a 20" ACD... Anyone with that setup a 23" as main and a 20" on the side?
