It started maybe two weeks, but now whenever I use my macbook the fan starts to blow and the computer gets really warm. The performance isn't interrupted, but I recently had to have my HD erased and I fear this is a warning sign for a future disaster. Is it normal for the fan be so loud every time I use my computer?

I have read elsewhere either on this forum or somewhere else that somebody had installed a new HD in there MacBook and the fans are kicking into overdrive, so maybe possible if there is a problem with you current HD... Is swapping it an option for you?

Also have you ever had or currently have SMC fan control installed? I had a problem where id set it to mac fan speed and then removed the app, but for some reason retained the fan setting I had set.

If not try installing it and dropping your fan speed, in theroy this shouldnt harm your MB because if its getting hot your MB still adjusts speeds as normal.

Hey, thanks. I don't even know what SMC fan control is, but with your advice I think a visit to the genius bar isn't as drastic a measure as I thought when I started the thread.
