I am currently using a BB Curve. I have both my personal and work email set up through BIS (BlackBerry Internet Server). My work email is hosted through Exchange 2003 - but with my BB I am NOT connected via the Enterprise Exchange Server, I set it up as POP just like my personal email.

After spending 2 hours at the Apple store, I cannot seem to get it to work on the iphone. Am I doing something wrong, or does anyone have any tips? I even called my corporate help desk to ensure I had the incoming/outgoing mail servers correct.

If I have to wait for exchange support in June that is ok, but my question for that is are companies going to have to do something specific (kind of like BB Enterprise) to allow iphones to work?

My iPhone is set up using the Exchange account on my company's Exchange 2003 server. Works great (as long as your company server has IMAP enabled).

POP also worked for me.

I'm sure you've already checked, but re-type your password VERY carefully. When I got my iPhone, I couldn't get mail b/c I was screwing up the password due to an unfamiliarity with the iPhone keyboard.

I will try that. What exactly is IMAP and do most companies enable it or not? It is not like I can call and ask them to do so for me... ALSO - when setting up in exchange on the iphone would the mail server/host name still be the name (mail.company.com)?

In my experience, most companies I've provided service for don't enable IMAP. However, you should be able to access your work email on Exchange in Safari via OWA (Outlook Web Access). The address is typically setup along the lines of http://mail.yourcompany.com/exchange. Using POP incorrectly can leave you with an empty mailbox on your Exchange server and all your email on your iPhone (meaning your email is no longer being backed up, and if you lose your phone, you lose your mail), so be careful with that if you don't know what you're doing. IMAP isn't something that is enable on specific accounts; it's a server wide setting, and they're probably not going to enable it for you.

Thanks - I know that I can go through the sxchange website, but that defeats the purpose of getting the iphone. I need a way for my email to come directly to me (either push or pull). Looks like I am going to have to wait until June.
