I am opening the floor to wild speculation about how much applications for the iPhone will cost, if purchased through official channels. Do you think it will be a one-time fee, or a monthly subscription fee, or a mixture of both? How many apps do you think will be available for free through official channels?
I am also wondering how easy it will be to pirate the iPhone apps. Will it be easier to pirate if the user has jailbroken their iPhone, or if they haven't? Will it be possible to purchase apps through official channels with a jailbroken iPhone? Does Apple build piracy protection into the iPhone and SDK? These questions are purely rooted in intellectual curiosity, and any answers are purely for entertainment purposes, I would never advocate breaching contracts or illegal activity.
