I love my MacBook intensely, sometimes I'm even known to kiss it goodnight.

But since I've bought it (in January) I've got in to using Aperture and Photoshop (on my iMac) a lot, and photography has become a worrying obsession.

So my MacBook is struggling to cope with my demands. And I'm going to be away from home a lot during the next few months, during which I'll have endless blissful photographic opportunities, so I won't have access to my iMac, only my MacBook.

So, should I:

(a) Shut up whinging and be grateful for what I have?

(b) Throw myself off a cliff because I made a catastrophic buying decision in January.

(c) Try to sell my MacBook and buy a MacBook Pro, particularly because there are some fantastic refurb deals on the Apple site at the moment.

If you choose (a) or (b) I won't be sad, I promise.

Sell fast and hope you get good value for the MB then buy refurbed MBP. You could also sell the iMac and get the 17" High Res.

Awesome setup at home and on the go.

Yes, I love my MacBook too. But I wish, for none other than the luxury of it, I had a MacBook Pro to match my Mac Pro. If I had the money I'd do it. Mine is a 1st generation MacBook, so I don't see it having much resale value. Id still have to come up with a good $1000 for a MacBook Pro. And then, it's only a luxury and not because I really need it. It's one of those "nice to haves".

(d) post this in the MacBook forum :D:D:D (mostly kidding)

If you can swing a refurb MBP, why the heck not? I just bought a MacPro and am planning to sell my PBG4-15" and pick up a base model MB refurb for my mobile needs. Having never spent much time on a MB, I cannot give you practical advice. I hope I don't mind the step down from the PB/MBP chassis to the MB.

Is the macbook having performance problems? The SR macbooks aren't really much different performance-wise for photo editing than the mbp (unless you are noticing an aperature only problem where the integrated video may be the culprit).

How much RAM do you have? I had zero issues using a macbook with 4gb RAM for photoshop and lightroom.
