when i was emptying my trash securely is showed it was deleting 300+ files but i only had about 10 items in trash. so where did the other 290 items come from? b/c they aren't appearing in trash when i click on the trash icon. it opens up and shows the only 10 items that i put in trash.

i deleted like 20 gb of stuff.
3 hours into deleting securely i said F*(# it.

the reporting of files is a bug. i get >10 items when i securely delete a couple of files.
secure empty trash writes zeros over the data so it is very hard to recover. not impossible as some complex data recovery apps could recover them.
