--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are several things I'd like Apple to add as upgrades or firmware to the iPod touch. I'm not including things that would require a hardware redesign, such as internal speakers, external volume control, camera, etc.

Some of these items are currently available to jailbroken touches or as webapps, but I'd like to see them made available to everyone as native applications and without having a wi-fi connection.

1. The ability to mark and delete multiple emails. This could be done from the current edit when the red circles appear if you could mark more than one circle at a time, then hit delete to dump them all.

2. The ability to close all open web pages in one operation.

3. Be able to change fonts and attributes (bold, italic, etc, maybe even color), especailly in Notes and Mail.

4. Change the weather icon to show the temperature and weather conditions for the first location in the list. This could be similar to the way the date icon shows the current day and date.

5. A way to toggle the battery icon to show voltage, remaining battery capacity or the icon, possibly by simply tapping the icon.

6. A single touch area to toggle the wi-fi on or off, possibly by tapping the wi-fi symbol area in the upper left of the screen.

7. change the clock icon to an actual clock showing the current time, possibly with a color change for day and night.

8. Instant messaging

9. Flash

10. A decent calculator, switchable between basic, scientific, algebraic and RPN functions, and with a multiple platform conversion function (weight, length, area, etc.).

11. A single text search function for Notes, Calendar, eMail, etc.

12. A Back button in all applications so you could return to the previous application. For instance, now, if you are in Contacts and touch the address area you're directed to Maps to show the location. But then you can't get back to the contact you left from without going back to the main screen.

13. A placeholder in Videos/Movies so you could quit temporarily and then resume where you left off. Movies will currently bring you back to the beginning of the chapter you left off in, but not to the exact spot. This dosen't help if you don't have chapters saved.

14. The ability to create folders to hold multiple icons of the same type (games, etc.)

15. Better tone controls for music, or at least a graphic representation of what the presets are actually doing.

16. GPS. I've been told that the chipset the iPhone uses for GPS is also in the touch. Programming should be able to make it possible; I don't know whether the antenna is adequate.

17. Connectivity to the Nike RFiD

Finally, an in-my-dreams desire: A way to actually contact an Apple representative with a question or concern and actually get a relevent response, even if it's not one I might like.

Though, the weather, the wi-fi, and clock are not included i think that is an awesome idea

movies already do that, its a setting...

Those are actually numbers but I got the point

But seriously he's right, items #1 and #10 are your list are going to be included in software version 2.0.0, and #8 will be available throught AIM's app that they're developing. All the other ones to my knowledge are not yet announced for a future update.

Why not add these ideas to the countless other threads about the same thing?

Because the other threads mostly were about things that would require hardware or design changes, such as speakers, external volume controls, bigger screens, camera, etc. I limited my ideas strictly to things which should be possible with software changes or additions.
