According to apple's website, this imac cannot be upgraded to 802.11 n. My question here is, am I missing a way around this, or am I stuck with G forever? Thanks for the help.

As far as internal goes, yes, you're out of luck--no realistic upgrade path from what's built in.

You could, however, buy a USB 802.11n adapter (they're not common, but I have seen Mac compatible ones for sale) and plug that in to get n-speed wireless. It's going to add some bulk to either the back of the iMac or your desk, but it is an option.
